Called to duty in Bensonhurst around MacDonald, Dahill, Ave J and 21st Ave, I found a plethora of graf art in this mostly Hassidic neighborhood. The Washington Cemetery is one of the most crowded cemetery I ever seen at least it seemed so in the dark. [unrelated: I've been posting fewer shots because I've been unhappy with the quality of them especially the night shots. I believe I've reached the limits of the S414 and I'm having a tough time deciding which camera to buy. Ive narrowed it down to the Nikon D70, the D100 or the Leica Digilux 2. I've never been a Nikon person prefering the lens qualities of Minolta but for the money Nikon offers versatility(SLR) and quality. Whereas the Leica, though not an SLR, offers a better image quality but might not be as versatile. Does anyone have experience with both for a comparison opinion?

Crowded is right. It looks as if there's no room to move in and around the tombstones. Maybe it's better that way (as in, so the spooks can't move out). I love traipsing through old cemeteries with my camera. I think your night shots are pretty darn good.

I remember back in the late 1980's, the kids from FDR High School, would cut class and go tombstone-toppling. The cops did not care until the Hasidic community complained about the desecration; they insituted 24/7 helicopter patrols. This still did not stop the car strippers from doing their nightly misdeeds. One could find at least 3 stolen cars on the stretch of Mcdonald Ave. bordering both sides of Washington Cemetary at any given time.

Where are the "supporting counties"? Looks to me llike all these pictures were taken in NYC -- I think the photog needs a goegraphy lesson, and I don't see anything too spectacular about these pictures either. I should send him my B&W's of old Coney Island.
Cornell: The Italians that used to hang out in bomber jackets with DA haircuts were refered to as "cusines"(no G), which was an unlikely ethnic slur apparently taken from it's common appearance on Italian restaurant signs.
