Friday was a very windy day and it was also one those days that I covered over a hundred miles. I gravitated towards the water and went crazy with a gig card in the D70. Croton-on-the-Hudson, Peekskill and New Rochelle on the Long Island Sound side of Westchester were my targets. Tommorrow will be the last post of Windy Friday.
i love the first shot in this series. the battle of the tide line encroaching on the beach.

What great photos I was born and raised in new Rochelle, and these pics brought back alot of memories. Not just from my childhood but from raising my own children there. As a child my mom would take us there at night to cool off. Thanks again, and keep up the great work.

hey great shots of the park.I also grew up in the area, new rochelleand pelham.I live right down the road from the park.Even though your shots are great, next time lok closes. In my opinion the city has neglected this place. It has to be one of the oldest parks in our areaand for its size the nicest, its too bad .sorry have to talk latter

HI! GREAT PICTURES!! I AM ALSO TRYING TO LOCATE PUBLIC POOLS & BEACHES IN WESTCHESTER COUNTY WHERE BRONX RESIDENTS MAY HAVE ACCESS TO. I LIKE THESE PEACEFUL PLACES. ORCHARD BEACH IS NOT MY IDEA OF SPENDING A FUN DAY WHEN YOU HAVE CHILDREN. SO FAR EVERYTHING I FIND IN WESTCHESTER YOU NEED TO HAVE A " COUNTY RESIDENT PASS" . CAN ANYONE SHED SOME LIGHT ON THIS MATTER.? BESIDES RYE.,FDR PARK OR ROCKLAND WILL APPRECIATE THANKS.

Thanks for the memories! I grew up in New Rochelle, and spent a few summers as lifeguard in the "Lifeguard Shack", shown in your last photo.

I too is interested in finding out why a New York City resident can not have access to the public parks in New Rochelle.I have seen questions posted but no answers.Sometimes after a stress filled day I just want somewhere out doors to sit and relax for awhile
why not in New Rochelle?

You can purchase a pass at City Hall to get on the beach and use the parking lot. Otherwise, the rest of the park is permit free.

I lived in New Rochelle from 1951 to 1960. Used to take my son to Hudson Park every Sat & Sun.in the summer. Lived at #2 Stonelea Pl across the road from Catholic School. When the tide came in the kids used to jump from the high ground into the water re in the first picture. After searching my Secor ancestory in 1999 later found out that I am a descendant of Ambroise Sicard who was one of the early Huguenot Settlers of New Rochelle. His name is on the plaque at the entrance of the park. I used to work for Western Union in those years on Lawton St. What great memories this pictures are for me.

I'm searching long distance for information on Ambroise Sicard; I am also a descendant and plan to visit New Rochelle for the first time in June.
I have seen posts and pictures of a home that was supposedly owned or built by Ambroise. Do you know if it still exists and where it is located?
I appreciate any help or advice on finding Sicard sights as we will only have one day in town.
Thanks!
